“Having a job is about more than just money, it’s about having a sense of purpose”
My name is Amy and I am 25.
I graduated from College in 2012 and then I went to TAFE to study Certificate IV in Visual Arts. After completing this I got a Diploma in Print Making.
I have been actively seeking employment for a number of years now but I’ve had no luck. This often makes me feel very stressed. Having a job is about more than just money for me, it’s about having a sense of purpose and a reason to get up in the morning. Checking my emails and getting rejection emails fills me with dread sometimes.
When I started at Hamlet I was working in the kitchen and I enjoyed the environment because of the people. Eventually I was encouraged to try front of house shifts so that I could learn customer service and improve my confidence.
I was nervous at first about talking to customers but I feel a lot more confident now. Hamlet has been really important for me because it’s allowed me to prove I can come in and achieve things and no one makes me feel bad if I make a mistake.
My superhero power would be:
To read minds
Something I love:
Sailing and writing poetry and singing
